The 2027 registration window opens October 1, 2026. The 2027 registration year begins January 1, 2027.

How much does UCR cost for 2027?

Government fees for the 2027 registration year run from $55 for 0 to 2 vehicles up to $54,165 for fleets of 1,001 or more. Brokers and leasing companies pay $55.

Does my USDOT number cover UCR?

No. UCR is a separate annual filing in a different system. A current USDOT number or MCS-150 does not register you for UCR.

Is there a UCR card or credential to carry in the truck?

No. The UCR Plan confirms no UCR credential is required in the vehicle. Compliance is verified electronically.

Does filing for one year cover the next?

No. UCR is annual and each registration year is a separate filing with its own fee.

My trucks are under 26,000 pounds. Am I exempt?

Probably not. The UCR threshold is a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more.

Do brokers need UCR registration?

Yes. Brokers are covered even with no vehicles and pay the smallest bracket, $55 for 2027.

This site is operated by DotMotusCompliance Inc, a private, for-profit compliance assistance company based in Owatonna, Minnesota. We prepare and submit Unified Carrier Registration filings for a fee.

What we do

Carriers, brokers, freight forwarders and leasing companies send us their business details. We check the classification and the fee bracket, prepare the UCR filing, submit it, and send back the confirmation receipt. We charge a service fee for that work, separate from the government fee.

That's the entire business. We are not a law firm, not a consultancy, and not a broker of any other service.

What we are not

We are not FMCSA. We are not the U.S. Department of Transportation. We are not the Unified Carrier Registration Plan, a state agency, or any other government body. We hold no government authorization, endorsement, license or affiliation of any kind.

The domain name of this website is not a government address. Government UCR resources live at ucr.gov and plan.ucr.gov.

You do not have to use us

Any business that needs UCR can register directly with the UCR Plan and pay only the government fee. Checking your registration status there costs nothing. If you know UCR applies to you, your vehicle count is settled, and you're filing a single year, filing it yourself is a short job and we'd tell you so on the phone.

People use a service like ours for two reasons, in our experience. More than one registration year needs sorting out, or nobody in the office is confident about the business classification and which fee tier applies. If neither describes you, save your money.

How we handle your information

We collect what a filing requires and use it to prepare and submit that filing. We don't sell it. The full detail is in our privacy policy.

We don't guarantee a processing time. Registration is processed by the UCR Plan's system, not by us.
