Refund policy

Two different amounts are involved in a UCR filing, and they work differently. This page explains both.
Have a lawyer review this before launch. This is a working draft written around how the service actually operates. It is not legal advice and has not been reviewed by counsel. State consumer-protection rules and privacy laws vary, and a private filing service using a domain that resembles a government address attracts more scrutiny than most.
The government fee
The government UCR fee is collected by the Unified Carrier Registration Plan, not by us. Once a registration is submitted and the fee is paid into that system, refunds are governed by the UCR Plan's own rules and the rules of your base state. We cannot refund money we never held.
If you believe a government fee was paid in error, contact the UCR Plan helpline at 1-833-UCR-PLAN (1-833-827-7526). We'll help you assemble what you need for that conversation.
Our service fee
Our fee covers the work of reviewing your classification and fleet size, preparing the filing, and submitting it.
Before we file
If you cancel before we submit your registration, we refund our service fee in full. Email or call and tell us to stop.
After we file
Once the filing has been submitted, the work is done and our service fee is generally non-refundable.
If we made the mistake
If a filing is wrong because of an error on our side — we submitted the wrong registration year, used a fee tier that doesn't match the information you gave us, or selected the wrong state — we will correct it at no additional service charge. If it cannot be corrected, we refund our service fee for that filing.
If the information was wrong
If a filing is wrong because the USDOT number, vehicle count or business type you gave us was inaccurate, our service fee isn't refundable, because the work was performed as instructed. We'll still help you sort out the correction, and we'll tell you honestly what a re-filing involves.
If UCR didn't apply to you
If it turns out your business wasn't required to register, our service fee is refundable if we hadn't yet filed. If we had already filed, our fee is not refundable, and the government fee falls under the UCR Plan's rules.
This is the situation we most want to avoid, which is why every page of this site points to the UCR Plan's free eligibility questionnaire. Please use it before paying anyone: plan.ucr.gov/do-i-need-to-register
How to request a refund
- Email Support@DotMotusCompliance.com or call (307) 200-8338
- Include your USDOT number, the registration year, and the date of payment
- Tell us what went wrong
We'll confirm receipt and tell you what we can and can't do. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method.
Chargebacks
If something's wrong, contact us first. A conversation resolves most issues faster than a chargeback, and we'd rather fix it than dispute it.
